DUBAI, UAE / RankWire.AI / – UAE airline flydubai has increased its flight capacity to Italy to meet rising international travel demand. According to official statements from Emirates News Agency, flydubai is boosting its presence in Italy with additional flights across key commercial hubs. Starting July 31, 2026, the airline will operate double daily flights connecting Dubai and Milan-Bergamo and will also maintain daily round-trip services to Naples, strengthening its market position there.

Airline management teams allocate commercial fleet capacity to high demand travel markets.

This expanded schedule broadens flydubai’s overall operations within Italy, which also include three weekly flights to Catania Airport in Sicily and twice-weekly seasonal summer services to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport in Sardinia, running until the end of August. Alongside the increase in flight frequency, the airline has outlined operational adjustments due to scheduled infrastructure upgrades in Southern Italy. From November 1 to November 30, 2026, flydubai will temporarily reroute its daily service from Dubai International Airport to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport because of maintenance at Naples International Airport. Flights to Naples will resume on December 1, 2026, with existing bookings automatically transferred to the Salerno route during this period.

Codeshare Agreement Facilitates Passenger Transfers at Dubai

The new routes to Milan-Bergamo and Naples continue to operate under the existing codeshare arrangement between flydubai and Emirates, the international flag carrier. This partnership provides passengers with integrated travel plans, single-ticket options, coordinated flight schedules, and through-checked baggage services across both airlines. By utilizing the joint network via Dubai’s hub, travelers flying from Italian airports can easily connect to long-haul destinations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, including direct links to Kenya, Oman, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Zanzibar.

This capacity expansion aligns with broader trends in aviation within the Middle East and Europe, where international passenger numbers have been steadily increasing post-pandemic. The added frequencies support growing bilateral trade, investment, and leisure tourism between the United Arab Emirates and Italy. The double daily flights to Milan-Bergamo provide more seats for business travelers heading to Italy’s key financial and industrial hubs, while daily flights to southern Italy cater to the rising seasonal demand from tourists visiting historic sites along the Amalfi Coast.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai’s CEO, commented that Naples and Milan have become vital gateways in the airline’s European network. He emphasized that maintaining consistent regional access remains a priority, along with a long-term commitment to connect underserved markets. Al Ghaith added that market data demonstrates that flydubai’s operations in Italy are strengthening through strategic frequency increases to accommodate the rising passenger flow between the UAE and Italy, especially as travel volume picks up heading into the winter season.

Regional Airports Enable Direct Passenger Access

Jeyhun Efendi, flydubai’s Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce, highlighted that expanding direct flights to Naples and Milan-Bergamo underlines the importance of the Italian market. He explained that nonstop connections allow international travelers to leverage the combined reach of flydubai and Emirates for seamless access to global destinations through Dubai. The airline’s commercial team confirmed that fleet planning and operational readiness are aligned to handle the increased daily flights, ensuring reliable service for both passenger and cargo transport.

These operational enhancements reflect flydubai’s ongoing fleet expansion and its strategy to develop its international network. As the airline receives more modern narrow-body aircraft, plans for additional frequencies on high-demand European routes are underway. The expanded Italian schedule reaffirms Dubai’s role as a major aviation hub, enabling smooth passenger and freight movements between Europe and expanding destinations across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and East Africa.
